Introduction

The Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format is an XML based image format that uses vector graphics and javascript to product static images, animations, and interactive movies much like Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Flash or Director. The SVG format is an open patent free format which is publicly documented and supported by many different programming libraries and tools.

SVG and LetterMark

The LetterMark 5.x server now supports using SVG images for card images in much the same way that the LetterMark 6.x server software allows SVG images to be used. The 5.x server does not support the full set of template variables available in the 6.x server, but it does cover all of the fields available in LetterMark 5.x as well as some special variables provided for forward compatibility.

Creating SVG images for use with LetterMark 5.x

The methods for creating SVG images for use with the 5.x server are almost identical to those used with the 6.x software. Not all variables from the 6.x system are available in the 5.x version. Please see the list of available variables.
